Sherri Gardner Howell has been in journalism since she graduated from the University of Tennessee in 1976. After a lifetime with E.W. Scripps as a writer, editor, columnist and publisher, she now owns SGH Enterprises, her own writing and editing business, specializing in newspapers and magazines.

SGH Enterprises offers writing, editing and strategic marketing to both large companies and small, Mom-and-Pop ventures. Since the company began in 2012, clients have included E.W. Scripps, The Knoxville News Sentinel, Shopper News newspapers, University of Tennessee, Horizon magazine and two books, Knoxville Utilities Board's "75 Years of Service" and a chapter in "Tennessee Women of Vision and Courage."

In addition, Sherri’s column, Rhymes and Reasons, which began in 1988, is still a weekend favorite every-other Saturday in the Knoxville News Sentinel. The column touches everyday life as she writes about family and friends and navigating today’s world as a woman.
